Design Approach
The site terrain demanded an analysis of the flat plates that is naturally given by the site. Thus, a division between the parking space and the building was demanded by the site. The difference in elevation between the parking and the building given an opportunity for a public space in the med of the parking pointing toward the elevated building to give presence to the building. Such site approach moved toward the architectural style of the Moorish design with an entry main gate elevated on a long sand wide stair case. The style given the reason for a tower, that is functionally needed for circulation from the parking to every level of the building and the secondary public space located at the first level. Inherently, such tower made visible from the site entry and a predominant architecture to equal the entry door (previously mentions) in focal point. Such tower will also house an elevator for handicap use. The tower and stair case located in the couth west part of the building to be fire sanctuary and means of egress. All means of egress to lead to sanctuary spaces, where from such point a safe route to exist the site. The site was naturally graded on the angle pointing toward Macca (a religious significance for the mosque where prayer has to pointed toward it). Such, drove the building floor plan to be stepped so every space is pointed toward it, as the prayer hall could be used and other spaces could be used for prayers. The building then division to be segregated at any time on multi-adaptable uses, where the management of the building could close any portion of the building at anytime and the remaining portions remain unaffected and fully functional. Egress routes where studied to adhere to the adaptable segregation use mentioned. Space relations within the building was study on the merits of continued use and segregated use, thus the restrooms and movements within the building where studies on different layers of proposed and excepted future uses.. Due to the elevation of the building, that permitted views, the balconies were placed to enhance the views toward the building the vertical articulation as well a views within the building to the outside. Expansion spaces where incorporated as per the program to give the possibility to expand prayed halls where the men or the women at anytime and inter-exchange them as need (religious believe, where women must pray behind men).
